How the day goes

Planned around the sun

We work backwards from the last light. This is one couple's real day, and yours will have its own shape.

  1. Couple standing under a sand-coloured arch, the bride in a red and orange saree

    8:00 am

    The first look

Soft light and empty places. You'll be nervous for ten minutes, then you won't be.

  2. Couple sitting close on a wooden bench under white curtains

    12:30 pm

    A long lunch

The midday sun is nobody's friend, so we stop. Eat, change, look through the morning's frames.

  3. Couple leaning together beside a white horse

    3:30 pm

    The second look

The light starts to warm up, and you stop checking your hair. This is where the film gets its laughs.

  4. Couple walking hand in hand through tall golden grass

    5:50 pm

    The last twenty minutes

We save the best place for the end. Everyone stops talking and lets you walk.

Where to go

Near home, or nowhere near it

  • Couple walking away from a parked jeep among trees

    Same day

    Close to home

    Fields and orchards around Abohar

No hotels and no early flight. Often the place that means the most is ten minutes from your house.

  • Couple running across a courtyard as pigeons take off, Albert Hall behind them

    Two days

    Palaces

    Jaipur, Rajasthan

Pink walls, Jal Mahal and the pigeons outside Albert Hall. We go early to beat the crowds.

  • Man playing a bright orange grand piano while a woman in a black saree leans on it

    Overnight

    An old film

Indoors in Ludhiana, then a terrace at dusk

Books, a very orange piano and torches after dark. It works in any weather, and at night.

  • Couple standing in water at the foot of a waterfall

    Three days

    Mountains and water

The hills, or wherever you love

Waterfalls, mist and cold feet. Bring something warm for between the frames.

  • Couple on snow, the woman in a long red dress trailing across the white

    Four days

    Snow

    Gulmarg, Kashmir

A red dress on fresh snow, with three of us carrying the fabric. It takes under an hour, which is about as long as anyone's hands can stand.

Questions about the shoot

Do you shoot pre-wedding films?

Yes. Pre-wedding shoots start from ₹45,000 for one day, with a one minute film and 40 edited photographs. We help choose the location and the looks.

Where can we do a pre-wedding shoot near Abohar?

The closest options are the fields and kinnow orchards around Abohar, and old havelis within a morning's drive. Couples also travel with us to Jaipur for its palaces and to Kashmir for snow. Tell us what you like and we'll suggest a place.

What should we wear for a pre-wedding shoot?

Wear two looks that feel like you: one traditional and one you would really go out in. Strong colours stand out against fields and old walls. Send us your options beforehand and we'll help you choose.

We are nervous in front of a camera. Will that be a problem?

No, nearly everyone is nervous for the first ten minutes. After that you're just two people having a day out, and we keep our distance. The first hour is usually about getting used to us.

How long before the wedding should we shoot?

Shoot at least six weeks before the wedding if you can. That leaves time for the edit, so the film is ready for your sangeet screen and the photographs can go on your invitation.
